ATHLETE PROFILE: Brad Holbrook

Hometown: Catlettsburg, stuff Kentucky
Age: 34
When did you first start CrossFitting?: October 2010
When did you first start training at CFPB?: October 2010
Favorite WOD: Any WOD that destroys me, discount so pretty much all of them.
Least Favorite WOD: Any WOD with HSPU, buy more about but that’s just for now.

Tell us about you sports & fitness background: I was always involved in sports, football, basketball, and track and field were the main activities growing up.  I played 2 years of college football and have since dabbled in endurance sports like Triathlons and distance running and cycling.  I had previously only done normal globo gym training and workouts and had no idea what real fitness was.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel? I found Crossfit one day browsing the internet and found the “Nasty Girls” video.  My first wod included pushups and Sumo Deadlift High Pulls, I couldn’t straighten my arms for a week!

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)? I have lost pretty much all the fat on my body and gained large amounts of lean mass. I’ve focused on my nutrition more than I ever have and totally see the results following the complete package of the CrossFit lifestyle.  I have more energy throughout the day and after work I can still come home and play with my kids and be a better husband to my wife.  I rarely get colds or become sick and I’m the fittest I’ve ever been my entire life.

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected? I’m now even more fearless when it comes to challenges, any challenge.  3,2,1 Lets do this!

Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CFPB moments:  Being a part of the Crossfit Point Break Regional team, watching Clients hit PR’s day in and day out, and the formation of a “GYM Family” supporting and encouraging each other to become the best that we can all become.

Any advice for people just getting started?  Stay consistent and let the programming work its magic.  I’ve see that if I miss a week my body lets me know it isn’t happy with me and I actually feel a loss of energy in all aspects of my day.  If you just show up you will see results that will blow you mind!

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit? I enjoy watching my son play sports, watching my daughter boss us all around, and spending time with my wife and family.  We love volunteering at our church and doing work for our Lord and God Jesus Christ.  I’m interested in Endurance events and challenging  human limits.
